CSR: Hively Hospitality’s 5 key actions

Hively Hospitality is a beehive of corporate social responsibility (CSR). We are committed to creating hospitality that is compatible with the planet’s limits, and more respectful of people and local communities. We do not promise to change everything overnight. But we are confident in our company’s capabilities, and are determined to help our teams, our customers and our industry move forward. Here are Hively Hospitality’s 5 key CSR initiatives.

CSR at the heart of our decisions and our organization

At Hively Hospitality, CSR is at the heart of our decisions and our organization. It is one of the Executive Committee’s priorities, and is translated into concrete action by a cross-functional Task Force of about twenty employees. They represent our hospitality professions, our brands and our 6 countries. Locally, “Green Teams” are active in hotels, restaurants and wellness centers.

This initiative is truly collective. It is spearheaded by Eulalie Breton, CSR coordinator who joined us in 2023, Flavie Bultez, HR Director, Vincent Renard, General Manager of Operations, and Victor Maniglier, Director of Real Estate Programs (development/renovations).

Social responsibility for Hively Hospitality employees

Hively Hospitality’s social responsibility is naturally focused on the well-being of our employees. In an industry known for its tough conditions, we have proven that our team success depends on the fulfillment of our staff. By providing good working conditions and attractive career opportunities, Hively secures employee loyalty.
In November 2022, we launched our employer brand. The cross-company CSR Governance Task Force enables us to continuously improve the employee experience and monitor our efforts. We pay close attention to:

  • benefits
  • work conditions
  • internal mobility
  • diversity of opportunities and career development
  • individual training and development

Supporting local communities

Hively Hospitality supports local communities by contributing to their economic development. Across all our locations, we employ over 2,500 people and partner with local businesses. In addition, Hively Hospitality is developing a Sustainable Purchasing approach with the following priorities:

  • Promote the local community: call on local and regional producers for catering, use short supply chains whenever possible, work towards greater product traceability, monitor the suppliers we use.
  • Reduce the environmental impact of our activities throughout the supply chain: environmental requirements for each purchase category, proportion of labelled products in our portfolio (organic and/or sustainable food products, eco-friendly hygiene and cleaning products).
  • Agree on a shared CSR policy with our suppliers and service providers (currently being introduced).
  • Support local organizations and get our staff involved in the public interest: our Clef Verte-labeled establishments work with at least one organization

Environmental commitment

Hively Hospitality’s commitment to the environment is simple: do better with less. All our hotel, restaurant and wellness establishments have been awarded the Clef Verte label, the 1st sustainable tourism label for tourist accommodation and restaurants. It has been developed by Teragir. At Hively Hospitality, the Clef Verte label translates into several measures:

  • Reducing both our establishments impact on water and energy resources: energy-saving plan, especially for the most energy-consuming properties, eco-actions sheets adapted to each profession, property investments (building insulation, heat pumps, dual flush toilets, water flow reducers…), raising customer awareness…
  • Reduce plastic and single-use products by replacing them with sustainable alternatives that generate less waste (e.g. water fountains, reusable cups, soap dispensers, etc.) or use less polluting materials (biosourced and biodegradable materials).
    • Repair rather than replace our equipment to extend its lifespan. Reuse or recycle products in partnership with local players or by donating them to organizations. Involve our employees and establishments in this initiative thanks to an internal “second-hand” platform that puts our entities in contact with each other when changing or renewing materials and/or equipment.

Our living beehive also has many ideas for the future, including the creation of carbon audits for our establishments, the education and training of our teams on these complex issues, and working more closely with our stakeholders to find solutions that reduce our shared impact, especially when it comes to mobility. Our motto: simplicity and practicality!

For Hively Hospitality hosts

Welcoming and caring for our guests is in Hively Hospitality’s DNA, whether in our franchised or own-brand establishments. Hively Hospitality’s two brands, Thalazur and Urban Hive, are therefore integrated into our CSR governance.

The THALAZUR brand combines pleasure, well-being and health prevention thanks to:

  • Epigenetics, which enables our thalassotherapy customers to become players in their own health by helping them to change their lifestyle (“joie de vivre”, stress management, physical activity, social support and balanced nutrition).
  • Special attention to women’s health, especially during the menopause
  • Innovative practices (cryotherapy, hyperbaric chamber, aquatic osteopathy, Janzu, EFT, sound yoga, etc.).

The URBAN HIVE brand is based on two core values to create a vibrant, urban community with and for our customers:

  • STAY IN: comfort and hospitality for a “home from home” experience, rich in connections and encounters, with weekly music nights, masterclasses and workshops.
  • EMPATHY: for a unique, personalized relationship with our customers

All the establishments in our network share a common commitment to customer care, attention and satisfaction, as part of a continuous improvement process.
